Putting together our Grade 9B skit for Olympic Day was nothing short of an adventure — and quite frankly, one worthy of a medal itself! Titled “Operation: Get Ravi to Move!” (with Krishnan playing the hilariously reluctant Ravi), the skit was all about celebrating the Olympic spirit… even when your legs — or your motivation — don’t want to.
And oh, the irony! Because getting this skit ready felt like we were living the theme. The biggest challenge? We had just one full rehearsal. Yes, one. That alone could qualify as a sporting event, considering how many of our key performers — the “council members” — were away on a leadership camp. The result? A slightly chaotic, slightly panicked, but fully committed sprint to the stage. Coordination was the real MVP here!
Despite the uphill climb, the students put together a surprisingly charming and spirited performance. Sure, it wasn’t perfect — but that’s not what the Olympics are about either. It was full of laughter, creativity, and that gritty, we’re-in-this-together energy that defines real teamwork.
What made this skit even more special was how students led the whole process. The script was beautifully conceptualized and written by Nidhi and Rishith, who also starred as Teacher Tina and Grandpa Gopal. They didn’t just write the lines — they carried the vision, setting the tone for the entire piece.
Satvik composed the background score (yes, original music!), while Anish — who doubled as our enthusiastic “Olympic nerd” — and his team managed the audio seamlessly. Ishaan, always calm under pressure, handled scene transitions with his placards, ensuring smooth flow from one act to the next.
A group of students shared serious facts about the Olympic Games, balancing the fun with thoughtful reflection. And Chitra, despite a late arrival, introduced the skit with a crisp summary of Olympic history that framed the performance beautifully.
Watching them pull it off — with minimal practice and maximum heart — was a proud moment. It reminded me why I love these seemingly small school events: they bring out the best in learners, not just in performance, but in collaboration, resilience, and good old-fashioned effort.
The message of the skit? The spirit of sports lies in trying… and sometimes, in dragging your friend along for the ride. Grade 9B didn’t just say it — they lived it. And in the process, they proved that success isn’t always about polish or perfection. Sometimes, it’s simply about showing up, sticking together, and making it to the finish line — together.
